Packer Fans Basically Dress as Cheese | Fantasy Football Sleepers

Last night on Football Jabber Radio we had Adam, the football loving Brit that is taking in 35 NFL games around the country. It’s funny to hear an Englishman’s assessment of how Packer fans basically dress up as cheese. Poor guy didn’t know where he was, turns out he is in North Eastern Oregon heading to Vegas (there isn’t a football team in Vegas so whatever could he be up to?). NFL Recaps and Fantasy Football too!

Show Notes:

3:00-We get Mike in the house and rolling. Discussion of some of the big games from last week including the Broncos/Chargers fiasco, the Vikings disappointment against the Colts, and more…

12:19-We get a call from Reg at CowboysPride.net discussing the Cowboys and Eagles Monday Night Football shootout.

28:00- Adam from Adamsfootballtrip.com joins us to discuss his dream trip around the United States taking in 35 games in a season. Good stuff. Tales from the road so far and plans ahead.

42:00- Fantasy Football time! Smashmouth is in front of the 30+ owner Cowboys Pride/ Football Jabber Challenge. Take a look at some possible sleeper/waiver wire picks.

Rankings| Fantasy RB Average Carries Compared to Carries Lost

Rankings| Fantasy RB Average Carries Compared to Carries Lost

June 13, 2008 by Lee (Edit)

The Full-Time Fantasy Running Back has become a bit of a rarity. More teams are going to a Running Back by Committee approach and carries are getting lost on third down and at the Goal Line as well. How does this effect your fantasy RB? Sometimes it doesn’t, sometimes it is nerve racking. Carries don’t mean everything, right? But sometimes you just have to think that if your guy is touching the ball more there is more opportunity than if he is on the bench.

On the last two episodes of The Fantasy Football News and Advice Show there has been a little conversation on the stock of Jamal Lewis. Matt Dana at FFGeekBlog.com (Episode 4)had been noticing that Lewis is going earlier than most would think in Mock Drafts. Revisiting the topic this week (Episode 5) we came to the conclusion that it must be related to the fact that Jamal Lewis is part of the dying breed that is the Full-Time Fantasy Back. This could make a difference in projections for cheetsheets you may be putting together. Giving more thought to this I decided to take a look at all of the teams and see just who lost the most carries in 2007.

Let’s have a look at how the player on each team with the highest average of carries per game stacked up against the average carries per game for the team. This will give us the average carries that each player lost per game. I think you may be surprised by how some of these guys rank. On one side this shows which teams look more at the featured back. On another side it shows that having to share carries does not necessarily mean a drop in fantasy production (especially if the team runs the ball a majority of the time). Of course this doesn’t take into consideration a players value in the passing game. No, it’s not a science (Yes-there are holes in it), but it’s fun anyway. So what are your thoughts? Please share in the comments below!

We will rank these in order of teams where the player with the highest average carries per game lost the least amount of carries to others (carries are rounded up).

1. Chiefs
Avg. Rush Attempts/Game Team: 23.93
Avg. Rush Attempts/Game Leader: Larry Johnson
Avg. Rush Attempts/Game: 19.8
Avg. Carries lost to others/Game: 3.2
Comments: When Johnson is healthy he is forced the rock. I wouldn’t look for much of a change in this…if healthy. The addition of Jamal Charles in the NFL Draft provides little reason to think it will change.

T.O. to Jessica Simpson:Scram!

jessica-simpson.jpg

“Beat it kid…your bothering me!”

Apparently T.O. thinks that Jessica Simpson may be a distraction for Tony Romo, the Cowboys, and Texas Stadium.  I said…T.O. thinks someone is a distraction!  I should go easy on him, he hasn’t been bad this year.  I just found that ironic.

I understand.  I’m distracted looking at the picture above as I type this.  If I had not heard her speak and what comes out of her mouth hurting my brain I would be REALLY turned on.   As it is now I would likely have to register whenever I moved in most states if what I’m thinking got out.

Anyway, back to our tale of T.O.

“Right now, Jessica Simpson is not a fan favorite — in this locker room or in Texas Stadium,” Owens said Wednesday.

“With everything that has happened, obviously with the way Tony played and the comparison between her and Carrie Underwood, I think a lot of people feel she has taken his focus away,” Owens said, echoing the chatter on sports-talk radio and blogs. “Other than that, she was high on my list until last week.

“Oh, I got a message for her when we make the playoffs. Just stay tuned.”

NFL Jabber 11/30/07

So, the NFL.com/live thing did show parts of the Packers/Cowboys game in a live stream. A majority of the show was commentary from the studio with live “check in” every now and then. They did tend to go to the game when a team hit the redzone and replayed big plays (most involving T.O.). Wasn’t to me what was advertised but still better than the nothing on my T.V.

https://i0.wp.com/www.tino-offseason.com/forum/myth/cowboysgif.gif The Packers record was not the only one changed Thursday night. Tony Romo broke the Cowboys single season TD record with #30. Terrell Owens tied the TD catch record with 13. Romo also tied a 16 game streak with TD’s. Chances are these will be built upon as we move forward with the season.

Romo is like the new Brady. I just can’t find anything not to like about the kid. He seems like Tom Brady a bit back when Tom Brady looked like he was having fun with the game. Maybe he is the new Favre. At the least he is the new QB that is not an Asshole with a big ego.

“When I got out to the field, (I realized) it was pretty neat, the atmosphere,” Romo said. “I looked around and was like, `This is why you want to play sports.’ You want to play in games like this. Your competitive juices get flowing and you want to prove what kind of player you are.”

You Could watch Packers/Cowboys

tspbabe_cowboys1.jpgI got an email yesterday titled, “Watch Packers-Cowboys on NFL.com via NFL.com/Live!”

My first response made me jump to opening the email. This is awesome! NFL.com is really getting cool now! NOT! It was an ad for NFL/Sprint. Turns out if I had a Sprint phone I could watch the game.

This made me think…The NFL Network could really capatilize on this Packers/Cowboys game if tey streamed it live. Plaster the page with all kinds of “I want my NFL Network” links. After this game I don’t believe you are going to hear too many people screaming for it looking at the games they have lined up (I will still bitch though). Maybe week 17 when the Patriots face the Giants in what could be the game that the Pats end the season 16-0.

If the NFL Network was REALLY concerned about how many NFL fans are not getting to see the games because of the cable companies, they could throw us a bone and stream the game live on their site. Yahoo! is doing it with MMA now. The downfall with that is us NFL Network deprived are supposed to get really upset because we don’t get it and contact the FCC or buy a dish…so that won’t happen.

I believe they may still be showing some highlights and whatnot at NFL.com/Live but I don’ think it is streamed.

Monday AM Hangover/ Week 12

How bad is the NFC? Being one game over .500 has you in the playoffs. The 0-4 starting Saints are still in it folks as they trail just the Eagles and Lions for the #6 seed. They smacked the hell out of their division rival Panthers. Week 13 is going to be a major week as far as shaping the playoff hunt in the NFC as six teams sit at 5-6, a game behind those Lions.

The Bears Adrian Peterson is going to be getting the rock now that Cedric Benson is out for the season. I said before the season started that Peterson would be a fantasy sleeper stud if anything happened to Benson….we will see.

Picture this…Adrian Peterson+the Vikings D+QB play. If they ever get all three of those together they could be dangerous. They were yesterday with Chester Taylor filling in the Peterson part of the equation.
