The Bedpan Fantasy Football Injuries of Note

2008 has been the year of the Red X.  Most fantasy football owners have to be looking at their rosters and seeing spots of injuries dotted throughout.  Let’s have a look at some injury reports, who is going to start, who is going to sit, and who you may be able to plug in this week.

Carson Palmer, Bengals: If you have been wondering if you should go a different direction but just could not stomach benching Palmer and his high draft status, it’s not your fault and you can do it this week.  Palmer is going to be sitting.  At least you know ahead of time this week.

Trent Edwards, Bills: They are being cautious with Edwards on the bye week.  Signs are pointing that he will return after the bye week.

Brian Griese, Bucs: His elbow held him out of practice again.  Will Jeff Garcia play well enough to hold him out of games after this week?  remains to be seen.  Jon Gruden is becoming to QB’s what Mike Shanahan is to RB’s.

Jon Kitna, Lions: This was an interesting tidbit earlier in the week because it appears that the Lions were not prepared for the possibility that Kitna could not go.  There was question as to if Dan Orlovsky or Drew Stanton would get the start.  It appears that Orlovsky is going to be the guy this weekend in his first NFL start.

Aaron Rodgers, Packers: All signs on the Magic 8 Ball are pointing to Rodgers starting against Seattle.  People questioned his durability going into the season but we are seeing some toughness as well as he is playing through the pain.  Kudos Aaron.

Matt Hasselbeck, Seahawks: Hasselbeck is listed as questionable but is not expected to play according to The Big Show.  Beware the return of Charlie Fry.  Well, Charlie Fry will return anyway, we have not had to beware of anything with the Seahawks passing game this season so far.

Brian Westbrook, Eagles: Let’s look at it this way.  You are going to be without Brian Westbrook this week.  At least you know it now.  How much hair do you figure has been lost over the years on Sunday morning alone waiting to see if this guy was going to play or not?  He isn’t, go on and enjoy your weekend.

NFL Footballderdash/Week 17

Oh, what a long winding road it has been. We have laughed, we have cried, we have called each other names. Week 17 marks the end of Footballderdash for the 2007 season as well as regular posting at TINO Sports Page. We will be moving our opperations (read laptops sitting on a coffee table stealing someone’s wireless) to Football Jabber.

Let’s review…

TINO:0-3 (27-23 overall)

Kelloggs23: 2-1 (27-23 overall)

The second 0-3 week of the season for the good guy. Looks as if we are tied going into week 17. I was going to throw a couple bones to Kelloggs this week but now I have to pick to win. image “” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.
Rumor has it that the NFL was getting pressure from politicians about getting this game off just the NFL Network and out where everyone could see it. CBS and NBC will get to share the game with NFLN. Here is what happens…Patriots go up early and maybe, MAYBE, Bill will be nice and take some players out. If it’s anywhere close, starters stay in here. It isn’t the Giants fault that they just happened to be the last team to play the Patriots this season. It would be cute to see them try and win this but the playoffs are coming. And hell, then they can say they didn’t want to win anyway because they were already in…right? The Giants take starters out (after being beaten down already) and lay down like a big Brett Favre for Michael Strahan.

TINO: Patriots

Both say they won’t rest their starters, but if I were the Giants I would. True you can possibly stop the Pats pursuit of perfection, but do you really wanna piss off Bill and have him keep Brady in the 4th quarter to run it up on you? No, just sit your guys and get them healthy for the playoffs. The NFC is weak and any team could come out of it, so get your banged up guys ready to go and concentrate on that. But we all know good ‘ol Tommy isn’t gonna do that, he’ll run his guys into the ground.

Kelloggs23: Pick: New England Patriots

And the rest of the games…

Patriots game to be on NBC/CBS

I was holding back at my futile efforts for giving another F-You to the NFL Network for the Patriots history making game being on the NFLN this weekend.

It turns out the NFL does care about us!  The game will also be on NBC and CBS!

The game against the New York Giants, in which the Patriots could become the first NFL team to go 16-0 in the regular season, was originally scheduled to be shown only on the NFL Network, which is available in fewer than 40 percent of the nation’s homes with TVs.

But the league announced Wednesday that the NFL Network feed will be simulcast on NBC and CBS. It’s a major concession by league officials, who repeatedly said they would not show the game anywhere but the NFL Network. The NFL had faced mounting pressure from politicians in recent weeks to make the game available to more viewers.

Team TINO Wins Experts League!

I don’t know how I backed into this league in the first place, someone sent me an email or something. Anyway, Team TINO won the Fans Fantasy Football Experts League.

Who were the fallen? Others in the league were fantasy sites from around the web…

College Bowling on X-Mas

One year I had to spend X-Mas in Detroit at my sister in-laws.  I had not planned it out so it never happened but once I was there I realized I could have went to the Motor City Bowl.  This is one I wouldn’t have minded going to considering some of the match-ups that they have.

TINO Member Poll results: 87% in favor of Purdue.

Words from our resident gambling member, MCB:

Purdue should cover the 8 with little to no difficulty. Chippewas defense is awful. I watched a pathetic Akron team drop 30 something on them. Purdue should score 45+.

College Bowling on Sunday

The Hawaii Bowl goes up against an NFL Sunday.

TINO Member Poll results: 100% in favor of Boise State.

Words from our resident gambling member, MCB:

Boise should win this game going away, but I believe the oddsmakers are playing off the Boise St. mystique. ECU is a decent team that can keep the game close. Unless they self destruct with turnovers I believe they cover the 10.5.

College Bowling on Saturday

Looks like we could have a couple gutter balls today, but damn it…it’s football.

Here is how the There is NO Offseason members voted for the games today with some quotes from our gambling member, MCB. Bowl: 71% in favor of Cincinnati

MCB-“Cincinnati destroys Southern Miss. This is the game that you bet your first born on. “

New Mexico Bowl: 71% in favor of New Mexico

MCB-“This is a tougher game to pick since New Mexico is at home, but I’ve seen Nevada play several times this season and the Wolfpack is a scoring machine. The Lobos struggled on offense much of the season. I’m taking Nevada to win the game straight up. Take the 3 points.”

Las Vegas Bowl: 57% in favor of UCLA

MCB-“UCLA has no offense and BYU will dominate.”

Missouri Mafia-“UCLA beat em once already this year…………but now they are beat up & the coach was fired. I dunno BYU might get ’em this time.”

MCB response-“BYU has won 9 straight and UCLA has lost 5 of last 7. Do you even think UCLA gives a crap about this game? BYU will dominate every facet of this game. Lay the 6 points.”

Some  Preview action…
