What happened to the ball that tied Dan Marino’s TD record last weekend? Equipment manager, Red Batty, ran in and swiped it from Greg Jennings and came out of a pile of green and yellow (it’s not gold Packer fans) and came out with the ball. Coach McCarthy didn’t even know what’s up when watching a highlight reel.
“I was like, ‘What the hell is Red Batty doing in there?'” McCarthy said.
Assistant video director Chris Kirby told him, “That’s the ball that tied the record.”
Red will be stalking the sidelines this weekend as well.
“In the game today, you’ve got to be able to capture those moments,” Batty said Friday. “That football is very important to Brett, to the Packers organization, but more importantly to Canton, Ohio, Hall of Fame.”
Meanwhile with the Packers, Vernand Morency is going to play this year, starting this weekend.
Only in a America. Jets fan, Carl Mayer, filed a lawsuit that the Patriots have been “deceiving customers.” More than $184 Million in deception.
“They violated the integrity of the game,” Mayer’s attorney, Bruce Afran, told The Associated Press. “This is a way of punishing Belichick and the Patriots.”
So there is already talk of a Tony Romo holdout if the Cowboys try to tag him. I say wait until he has a meltdown in a game and then go to the table. The guy started out hot last year too. And then had some “not so hot” games. I would want to see some consistency over at least 1/4 of the season.
By seasons end the calling of “Smith to Jackson” may be old hat in San Fran. It would be welcomed. The young Qb needs that go to WR and it appears that Alex Smith and Darrell Jackson are gelling nicely after last weeks game.
“Those two throws back-to-back were all with anticipation on Alex’s part that D-Jack was going to be where he had to be,” coach Mike Nolan said. “That’s a key. You don’t want to wait till they’re open. You want to throw people open. In both cases, it was exactly that.”
Does anyone care that Derek Anderson is going back to play against his old team of the Ravens? The Baltimore Sun must be hungry for story lines. I know we are.
