The Bears have cut the Tank. From what I can make of it he is being cut for the equivalent of a speeding ticket. As everyone knows, he was pulled over for going 40mph in a 25mph zone and the officer thought he was “impaired” at the time. He was arrested for “DUI Impaired to the Slightest Degree” but was not charged or booked. Blood was taken and sent off to the lab. Johnson was said to be cooperative.
From the sounds of this Johnson was not showing he was drunk enough to be charged via a Breathalyzer so they drew blood (I’m just guessing there but the Breathalyzer would be in procedure). He was not charged because they had nothing to hold him on at that time. results won’t even be available for two weeks. Essentially, the Bears just cut a man for a speeding ticket.
“We are upset and embarrassed by Tank’s actions last week,” general manager Jerry Angelo said in a statement. “He compromised the credibility of our organization. We made it clear to him that he had no room for error. Our goal was to help someone through a difficult period in his life, but the effort needs to come from both sides. It didn’t, and we have decided to move on.”
